How machine shops actually find government contracts
SAM.gov is the official source. The hard part is deciding which notices fit CNC capacity, materials, certifications, and job-size economics.
Federal opportunities for manufacturers are already public. SAM.gov aggregates active notices, and GSA provides an opportunities API. The bottleneck is not access to listings.
The bottleneck is qualification: NAICS/PSC alignment, set-aside eligibility, place of performance, mandatory processes, quality systems, and whether the contract is large enough to justify bid cost.
